Making Thinking Visible: a Request for Dry Erase Learning Spaces

Help me give my students a space to brainstorm, solve problems, and communicate their ideas more effectively in math class by purchasing dry erase whiteboards.

My Project

After conducting my quarterly survey, the feedback from students was unmistakable. They wanted more engagement and collaboration in their learning experience. To address this, I envision transforming my classroom into a thinking space where students aren’t just passive recipients of information but active contributors. By using adhesive dry-erase whiteboards posted around the room, I can facilitate an environment where students can gather, brainstorm, and collaborate while standing up and working together—truly using their body and mind to tackle tasks as a team.

Imagine the energy that would fill the classroom as students gather around vertical surfaces, markers in hand, bouncing ideas off one another and building a deeper understanding of the math concepts and applications.

The dry erase whiteboards would serve not just as writing surfaces but as tools for engagement that encourage students to move about, explore, and seek assistance from their peers rather than always coming to me for help. This shift in dynamics open opportunities for students to learn from one another, fostering a sense of community. When students feel empowered to collaborate, they become more invested in their learning journey.
