Creating a Classroom Built for Learning

Help me give my students the best learning environment possible with lab supplies, reagents, art supplies, and a heavy-duty fan to keep them cool in our old building, which unfortunately has no AC.

My Project

My students learn science best when they can experience it, not simply read about it. The materials in this project will help me create a classroom where students can conduct authentic investigations, create models, collaborate, and stay engaged in hands-on learning.

Labs are an essential part of IB Biology, allowing students to observe biological processes firsthand while developing skills in experimental design, data collection, analysis, and scientific reasoning.

The laboratory chemicals, such as reagents like Benedict’s, glucose, maltose, etc., will help us to complete IB-level experiments

The colored pencils, markers, and organizers will support projects, diagrams, models, and collaborative activities throughout my science courses. Students frequently use visual models to explain complex scientific concepts, and having classroom supplies ensures that all students can participate regardless of what materials they are able to bring from home.

Other items will improve our everyday learning environment. Our school building was constructed in 1951, and my classroom does not have air conditioning. The tower fan will help make our room more comfortable during warmer months so students can focus on learning. The digital clock will help us manage time during labs, assessments, group work, and our daily activities.

Finally, the laptop screen extender will help me efficiently create instructional materials for my students and science department. I regularly develop lessons, laboratory activities, presentations, assessments, and other resources. An additional screen will allow me to reference standards, curriculum documents, and data while developing these materials.

Together, these resources will help create a more comfortable, organized, creative, and hands-on science classroom where students have the tools they need to succeed.
