Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our classroom is designed around a self-paced learning model, where students work through lessons independently and demonstrate mastery before moving on. While this approach builds responsibility and confidence, learners can become confused by detailed systems and miss important steps. Classroom organization needs to be simpler. Using colored paper for mastery checks will make a significant difference because learners will be able to instantly distinguish assessments from guided notes and daily practice activities. This visual organization reduces confusion, helps learners stay focused on the correct task, and allows for quickly identify where each learner is in the learning process. My learners are unique because they learn at different paces and require clear, consistent routines to be successful. Many thrive with visual supports that reduce cognitive overload and help them work more independently.

By simplifying the classroom experience, learners can spend more time learning and less time figuring out what to do next.

The goal for this project is to create a more organized, accessible learning environment that empowers learners to navigate their coursework with confidence. Printing mastery checks on consistent colors of paper, maintaining predictable layouts, and pairing the color-coded system with digital progress tracking will provide learners with clear visual cues that support independence and reduce frustration. These simple organizational tools will help learners stay engaged, complete assessments more efficiently, and experience greater success in our self-paced classroom.
