Reading Rewards: Growing Lifelong Readers

Help me give my students a treasure chest of fun rewards that celebrate reading, responsibility, and a love of books.

My Project

My elementary library serves students in kindergarten through fifth grade who are enthusiastic readers! Many of them qualify for free or reduced-price meals, making school an especially important place for encouragement, access to books, and opportunities to celebrate their successes.

A Reading Reward Treasure Chest will motivate students to develop positive reading habits while celebrating their effort, responsibility, and growth as readers.

Students will earn opportunities to choose a prize by: checking out library books regularly, returning books on time, demonstrating positive library behavior, and showing perseverance with reading.

Celebrating small successes helps students develop the confidence and perseverance they need to become lifelong readers.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
