My Project

My sixth-grade students deserve access to books that reflect their interests, challenge their thinking, and inspire them to become lifelong readers. Our classroom library needs updated, engaging titles that include current middle-grade fiction, graphic novels, diverse perspectives, and high-interest nonfiction. Many students struggle to find books that capture their attention, and having a wider variety of newer titles will help me meet students at different reading levels and interests. A well-stocked classroom library allows students to choose books they are genuinely excited to read while building confidence and reading stamina.

My goal is to create a classroom library where every student can find a book that makes them want to keep reading.

With these updated books, I hope to increase student reading engagement, encourage students to read more independently, expose them to a wider range of genres and perspectives, and help students develop stronger vocabulary, comprehension, and critical-thinking skills. Most importantly, I want my students to see reading as something enjoyable and meaningful, not just another assignment. These books will become a daily resource that supports my students throughout the entire school year and helps foster a lasting love of reading.
