Giving Kindergarten Readers a Strong Start

Help me give my students meaningful literacy resources that will allow them to practice reading, spelling, blending, and word building through fun, hands-on activities that support their growth as beginning readers.

My Project

This project will provide my students with engaging literacy materials that support phonics, CVC word building, sight words, phonemic awareness, writing, and hands-on learning. Students will use dry erase boards and markers to practice writing letters, words, and sentences during whole-group, small-group, and literacy center instruction. Laminating pouches will help preserve our literacy materials so they can be used throughout the school year, and storage bags will keep our literacy centers organized and easily accessible. These hands-on resources will give students repeated opportunities to practice reading, spelling, blending, sorting, writing, and recognizing words in meaningful ways.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
