Empowering Students Through Interactive Notebooks

My Project

Our school serves a high percentage of students from low-income families, making it difficult for many students to purchase classroom materials on their own. I want to provide every student with the tools they need to stay organized, take ownership of their learning, and build skills that will benefit them long after they leave my classroom.

This project will provide sturdy composition notebooks that students will use as interactive notebooks throughout the school year.

Interactive notebooks encourage students to actively engage with lessons rather than simply copying notes. Students will organize information, create visual representations, complete reflection activities, and build a personalized learning resource they can revisit throughout the year.

The project also includes a classroom storage cabinet that will provide a safe and organized place to store student notebooks. Many of my students already carry heavy backpacks filled with materials for multiple classes, and some do not have a reliable place to keep school supplies at home. By storing notebooks in the classroom, every student will have consistent access to their work each day without worrying about forgotten or damaged materials. The cabinet will also help create a more organized classroom environment where supplies are easily accessible and protected throughout the school year.

As an Adobe Academy classroom, creativity and organization go hand in hand. While much of our work is completed digitally, planning, sketching ideas, reflecting on projects, and brainstorming designs often begin with pencil and paper. Interactive notebooks help students connect traditional note-taking with creative thinking while strengthening literacy, organization, and critical-thinking skills.
