My Project

My students are curious and hard-working. When they graduate, they will have earned a high school diploma and an associate's degree. Many go on to careers in science, but all of them will face situations where they must identify problems and find possible solutions.

Experimental design helps students to answer questions in their careers and in their everyday lives.

Why are my potatoes sprouting? How can I train my little brother? Why does my car use so much fuel? Using isopods, students will observe behaviors, share curiosities, develop questions, design experiments, give feedback on methodologies, gather and analyze data, develop graphs, communicate their findings, and make decisions.

The isopods will be used to start colonies that can be used for multiple years. These choice chambers will also be used for years.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
