My Project

Every student deserves to feel that their hard work is noticed and celebrated. In my Biology classroom, students take district check-in assessments throughout the year to measure their understanding of important Biology concepts. When students earn a proficient score, I recognize their accomplishment with a Certificate of Recognition. This project will allow me to make that celebration even more meaningful by pairing each certificate with a full-size candy bar or snack. Although it may seem like a small gesture, it sends a powerful message: your hard work matters, and your success is worth celebrating.

These rewards are more than just treats—they are a source of motivation.

Many of my students work incredibly hard to improve their understanding of Biology, even when the content is challenging. Knowing that their effort will be recognized encourages them to study a little longer, participate more actively, and give their very best on each check-in assessment. Over time, I have seen how positive reinforcement builds confidence, inspires perseverance, and creates a classroom culture where students celebrate one another's achievements instead of competing against each other.

As a teacher, one of my greatest joys is watching students beam with pride when they receive recognition for their accomplishments. A simple certificate and snack become a reminder that their dedication, resilience, and growth have been noticed. It creates moments of encouragement that students remember long after the assessment is over.
