My Project

A classroom library should be a place where every student can find a book they are excited to read. As I prepare for a new school year in second grade, I am working to build a library filled with engaging, age-appropriate books that capture my students' interests and encourage a lifelong love of reading. I teach a wonderful group of curious, energetic students who love to laugh, share stories, and get excited about new discoveries. Many of them are drawn to books with humor, adventure, and memorable characters. While I have a classroom library, many of my current books are better suited for older elementary students and are not the best fit for my emerging readers. This project will add high-interest titles such as Dog Man, Babysitters Little Sister, The Bad Seed collection by Jory John, Creepy Crayon!, Dragons Love Tacos, and other books that second graders love.

The right book can transform a student’s attitude toward reading and help them discover the joy of becoming a reader.

When students have access to books that match their interests and reading abilities, they are more likely to read independently, build confidence, and develop stronger reading habits. A variety of engaging books allows every child to find a story that makes them laugh, wonder, or want to keep turning pages.
