My Project

Students at WMS are bright, energetic, and full of potential. They come to school each day carrying more than backpacks—they carry hopes, challenges, responsibilities, and the need to feel safe, cared for, and ready to learn.

Recently, our district banned metal water bottles for students due to safety concerns after some were misused as weapons.

While this decision was made to protect students, it has also created a new challenge: many students no longer have a safe, reusable way to keep water with them throughout the school day.

That is why I am requesting 17-ounce plastic water bottles for my students.

For many families, even a basic school supply can become one more expense in an already tight budget. Some students try to get through the day without water nearby. Others rely on disposable bottles that are easily lost or thrown away, or are unavailable. No student should have to choose between following school safety rules and having access to necessities like water.

These reusable plastic bottles will give every student a safe, district-approved way to stay hydrated. They will help students feel prepared, included, and cared for. They will also reduce distractions from frequent trips to the water fountain and help students stay focused during class.

This project is about more than water bottles. It is about dignity. It is about safety. It is about making sure every student has what they need to learn without embarrassment, worry, or added pressure on their family.
