Help me give my students a collection of social-emotional learning books that will teach kindness, empathy, emotional regulation, friendship, and confidence while fostering a lifelong love of reading.

My Project

In our Blended Pre-K classroom, 15 young learners come together each day to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. A place where every child belongs, our classroom is home to half typically developing while the other half receive special education services through an Individualized Education Program (IEP). Our inclusive classroom celebrates each child's unique strengths while everyone learns, plays and grows together, building those necessary skills to be successful in school.

Books are at the heart of our classroom; this project will help provide high-quality picture books that support our Pre-K student's Social-Emotional Development.

Stories become powerful opportunities for children to learn about themselves, understand others, and make sense of the world around them. The books we are requesting focus on important topics such as identifying and managing emotions, friendship skills, solving problems, showing kindness, self-regulation and diversity.

For my students with IEPs, these books provide visual support, predictable language, and engaging stories that strengthen communication, comprehension, and social skills. For all students, these books will build vocabulary, encourage meaningful conversations, and foster early literacy skills.

These books will become a treasured part of our classroom library and will be used every year during whole-group instruction, small-group activities, and independent reading.
