The Little Things That Make Learning Possible

Help me give my students basic classroom supplies for notes and group projects.

My Project

I teach 8th grade social studies and science in a low income school. We are also located in a county that is experiencing major budget issues. In the past we were given a small allowance to get supplies for our classrooms. This year we are not getting anything.

I don't want a lack of supplies to be an obstacle for my students and their learning.

Many students are not able to purchase their own supplies. I want to make sure that I have any supplies they will need for the learning and activities we will be doing in class.

Research (The Dual Coding Theory) shows that students retain more information when they use images with texts in their note taking. Most of the supplies I have requested are to help students in this regard. Different mediums of writing and drawing, making the most of different colors, and chart paper will play a big role in this. The other item I requested is individual earbuds for each student. I want students to have their own so they don't have to worry about sharing headphones.
