My Project

My students deserve a classroom where they feel comfortable, supported, and ready to learn. As a special education teacher in a Title I school, I work with students who have diverse learning styles, sensory needs, and academic challenges. Many of my students benefit from opportunities to move, regulate their bodies, and learn in an environment that meets their individual needs.

Flexible seating supports sensory regulation, increases attention, and encourages students to take ownership of their learning.

This project will provide flexible seating options, including soft chairs and floor cushions, to create a calming, welcoming space where students can choose seating that helps them focus and stay engaged during instruction.

In addition to flexible seating, I am requesting laminating sheets to create durable behavior charts, visual supports, and instructional materials that can be reused throughout the school year. These resources help students understand expectations, monitor their progress, and build positive behaviors.

Writing workbooks will provide students with structured, guided writing practice to strengthen sentence development, organization, and written communication skills. Many of my students need explicit instruction and repeated practice to become confident writers, and these materials will help them build those essential skills.

By supporting this project, you are helping create a classroom where every child has the opportunity to feel comfortable, focused, and successful. Your generosity will provide meaningful resources that support both the academic and social-emotional growth of students with special needs while giving them the tools they need to thrive.
