Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love that our PreK–5th grade students show up every day with curiosity, resilience, and a desire to do well, even when big emotions make learning feel overwhelming. In my role as a Behavior Support Coordinator, I work closely with students and families to reset, restore, and build healthy coping strategies that support success in the classroom. My students thrive when they have structured, calming tools that help them regulate their bodies and emotions.

In their hardest moments, my students don’t need punishment they need a calm space that teaches them how to rise again, cope, problem‑solve, and grow through restorative practices.

My office is used as a designated reset and refocus space. Sensory items like fidget tubes, breathing balls, weighted plush animals, beanbag seating, mindfulness tools, and a soft rug help students reduce anxiety, regain control, and return to class ready to learn.

These resources make a meaningful difference by teaching self‑regulation, supporting restorative conversations, and giving students a safe place to practice the skills we work on together. With your support, our learners will have the tools they need to feel calm, confident, and capable every day.
