My Project

Help me give my students an area of my classroom where they can receive a gift of emotional regulation and deep focus in the times they needed most. My students have varying exceptionalities, and many of them need emotional support and calming elements to re-engage. A sensory room provides a calming structure space for diverse learners, using bean bags, sensory lights and other tools to reduce anxiety improve focus and sensory needs to productive learning strengths. The sensory role will provide a safe, calming a structured environment that supports the sensory emotional and self regulated needs a student in the EC pre-K program. The space will support the students who needs sensory breaks during the school day this supportive environment aims to decrease challenging behaviors as increase the independence and promote student, well-being, self emotional regulation and academic success for a diverse group of learners. This project will directly impact historically underfunded.
