My Project

Every great adventure begins with a place to belong, and in our kindergarten classroom, that place starts with a chair that fits.

My students spend a large part of each day gathered around our learning station table and teacher assistant table.

Unfortunately, the chairs we currently have are designed for second-grade students. For many of my little learners, their feet dangle, their posture suffers, and it becomes much harder to stay focused during important learning experiences.

With twelve kindergarten-sized chairs, my students will finally have seating that matches their growing bodies and curious minds. These tables are where the magic of learning happens. We gather together to read engaging stories, retell favorite books using our own words, create new endings, act out characters, and build confidence as storytellers. These conversations help children develop language, imagination, and a lifelong love of reading. At this table, students learn how to write their very own stories. We do phonics lessons and games. These same learning station tables are used during our guided math time where students solve math problems and play games.

These same tables also become creative spaces where students paint, draw, build, craft, and design projects inspired by the stories we read. Whether they are illustrating a favorite character, creating story props, or completing hands-on art activities connected to our lessons, they are learning that every child has a story worth telling.

Comfortable, properly sized seating allows students to focus on listening, creating, collaborating, and sharing ideas instead of struggling to sit comfortably. It helps every child participate with confidence and fully engage in meaningful learning experiences.
