Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Please help us visit the museum! We are a second and third grade class in a title 1 school,in Daly City. We study a different artist every month. Many of my students will never visit an art museum without YOUR help. We would love to see the real deal, not just the prints. We have studied artists from Frida Kahlo to Claude Monet, trying to learn about personal expression from different cultures. As a class we read about the artists lives and them write a biography about them. We then do an art project based on each artist. Each month the student puts his or her own work in a portfolio. At the end of the year the student leaves with a book of their artwork. We live close to San Francisco and we would love to go to the MOMA. Sadly the bus costs are prohibitive. With your help we will be able to visit a world class museum that houses many of the artists that we study. Please help me show my students how artist lay on paint thickly, use brush strokes, and convey the power of "live" art that prints simply cannot replicate. I would like money to pay for a four hour bus. The museum itself is free for children under 12. All twenty of my students will never forget this once in a lifetime experience! Thank you for your consideration!
