My Project

Help give my students a way to communicate their wants, needs, and answers to questions during the school day. The majority of my students are non-speaking and require voice output devices to give them a voice. I plan to use these quick talker devices to record my voice and then give them to students for them to use. I have seen such improvement in the participation of my students during the school day when given a way to communicate.

When students are given a voice, they are more likely to engage with teachers, classmates, and peers every day and about topics they are interested in.

My students are eager to answer questions, express how they are feeling, and request the items or food they want. When they practice and use voice output devices, my students practice speech and independent skills. They need these skills to participate outside of the classroom and in the community.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
