Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are resilient, hardworking, and determined to succeed despite the challenges many of them face. They come to school each day eager to learn, grow, and build a brighter future for themselves. I love their creativity, kindness, and willingness to support one another. As a school counselor, I see firsthand how much potential they have when their basic needs are met, and they can focus on learning.

The resources in this project will help stock our student pantry with essential snacks and food items for students who may come to school hungry or need additional support during the day.

Access to nutritious food helps students maintain their energy, improve concentration, regulate emotions, and stay engaged in the classroom. When students are not distracted by hunger, they are better able to participate in lessons, complete assignments, and build positive relationships with peers and staff.

The student pantry will also provide a sense of security and support for students facing food insecurity. Knowing that they have access to food when they need it helps reduce stress and allows them to focus on their academic and personal growth. By ensuring that students' basic needs are met, we are helping create an environment where every student has the opportunity to learn, succeed, and reach their full potential.
