This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The Counseling Corner Glow-Up will transform our counseling space into a welcoming, comfortable environment where students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. Many of our middle school students face challenges that impact their academic performance, attendance, behavior, and emotional well-being. A calming and inviting counseling space helps students regulate their emotions, build coping skills, and engage in meaningful conversations about their goals and concerns.

The table, chairs, rug, and beanbag chairs will create a student-centered environment that promotes social-emotional learning, conflict resolution, self-awareness, and problem-solving skills.

When students have access to a comfortable space where they feel valued and respected, they are more likely to participate openly in individual counseling sessions, small groups, and wellness activities.

By supporting students’ emotional and mental health needs, this upgraded counseling space will help remove barriers to learning, improve focus in the classroom, increase school engagement, and empower students to achieve academic and personal success. The Counseling Corner Glow-Up will be more than just a room—it will be a place where students can recharge, reflect, and develop the skills they need to thrive both in school and beyond.
