This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Engaging students in science requires more than textbooks—it demands interactive, accessible resources that spark curiosity while building foundational knowledge. The proposed science notes and activities will transform our 8th grade classroom by providing carefully scaffolded, easy-to-read guided notes paired with hands-on activities across critical units: ecosystems, chemistry, and pandemics.

Research shows that students learn best when content is presented in visually organized formats with embedded activities that connect concepts to real-world applications.

Our diverse learners need multiple entry points into complex topics. These resources will offer:

- Clear, concise guided notes that break down abstract concepts into manageable chunks

- Engaging hands-on activities that make ecosystems, chemical reactions, and disease transmission tangible and memorable

- Aligned practice problems that mirror NC state 8th grade science exam formats and rigor

By combining structured note-taking with dynamic activities, students will develop deeper conceptual understanding, increased confidence, and improved performance on high-stakes assessments. This investment directly supports student achievement and cultivates a genuine passion for science exploration.
