Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We may be biased but we believe we have the best kids around! Our school serves 400 Kindergarten through 5th grade students. Our goal each year is to build strong foundational skills in all students, and that includes having a strong school-wide system that supports positive behaviors, community building, and social and emotional health.

Last year, we launched our new PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions & Support) system and saw incredible results!

Our plan included a school-wide school and emotional learning block every day as part of a class-wide morning meeting as well as interventions and supports for students and teachers to create a safe and caring learning environment. A large component of our plan was our Compliment Card system. Compliment Cards were given school wide to students and classes that demonstrated our PRIDE characteristics (Promoting Kindness, Respect, Integrity, Determination, and Excellence). As students earned Compliment Cards for their classes, they received small celebrations for their teamwork. Specials events included hat and pajama days, extra recess, popcorn and a movie, popsicles, and more!

We are requesting funds to purchase popcorn and popsicles to support our Compliment Card celebrations during the upcoming school year.
