My Project

My middle school students are constantly asking for new novels during library visits. These high-interest books are some of the most popular items in our library, but our current collection is limited and many titles have long waitlists.

I am requesting funding to purchase updated and engaging friendship and graphic novels that will encourage students to read independently and build positive reading habits.

These books are especially valuable for reluctant readers because graphic novels combine visual storytelling with text, making reading more accessible and enjoyable.

Students connect deeply with stories about friendship, identity, and relationships. The friendship books help foster empathy, confidence, and a lifelong love of reading. By providing students with books they are excited to read, we can increase reading motivation, strengthen literacy skills, and create a vibrant reading culture in our school library.
