We have already unpacked and used the roller coaster engineering kits and the simple machines kits in class. These materials have given students a chance to physically build and test models as they explore key physics concepts like force, motion, energy transfer, and mechanical advantage. Students who normally struggle with abstract ideas have found the hands-on work both accessible and motivating, and many have commented on how much more sense the concepts make when they can touch, build, and experiment with the kits themselves.\r\n\r\nIn class, the roller coasters and simple machines activities have sparked lively collaboration and problem-solving. Students worked in small teams to design, build, and refine their models, which strengthened their communication, planning, and critical thinking skills. These experiences have laid a solid foundation for later units, and the excitement in the room during these activities has been noticeable among learners who are typically quiet or hesitant to participate.\r\n\r\nWe will begin using the remaining materials (including the cell models, prepared microscope slides, and the Wisconsin Fast Plants genetics kit) later in the year as our curriculum progresses into life science and genetics. I am confident these future units will have just as powerful an impact, allowing students to observe real biological structures and processes firsthand. Your investment in our classroom continues to transform how students experience science: from reading about it to doing it, questioning it, and ultimately understanding it on a deeper level. Thank you again for giving our young scientists the tools to explore, design, and discover.","fullyFundedDate":1760454449912,"projectUrl":"project/building-future-scientists-with-hands-on/9714818/","projectTitle":"Building Future Scientists With Hands-On STEM","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Lilja - 7th Grade Science Teacher","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9720946_orig.jpg?crop=400,400,x0,y6&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1725061749428","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9720946"},{"teacherId":9514224,"projectId":9213021,"letterContent":"Thank you a much for your generous donations! Students practiced collecting data after reading about the science of music and vibrations in \"Music Then And Now\". Students created a music questionnaire about music preferences and created graphs and data tables. \r\n\r\nStudents have also been enjoying Science World. They particularly enjoy \"Cool STEM Jobs\" articles. Students used Science World to research different careers and science that would be interested in pursuing. The imact has been tremendous and I am very excited about how the students have responded. \r\n\r\nI began this project with an idea about spreading kindess. While working at Kernodle I thought about a StepUp Be Kind program I was involved with years ago. We have great kids here at Kernodle, but I wanted to bring the idea of spreading kindness here. Students today are so distracted with social media and their phones, I wanted to be able to teach them to be more aware of what's going on around them. We took some time to learn what kindness means, how to look for it and how to be kind. The kids caught on and were so excited to receive the bracelets. They have been told if they see kindness, pass their bracelet on and tell that person to pass it on as well. My students also put up posters around the school to advertise our Kindness Campaign. \r\n\r\nI want this program to continue throughout the year and beyond as we help to spread kindness throughout our school.","fullyFundedDate":1731525304746,"projectUrl":"project/kindness-campaign/8888102/","projectTitle":"Kindness Campaign","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McTygue","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9807639"},{"teacherId":9201922,"projectId":8838807,"letterContent":"I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donations, which have made a significant impact on our school library.
