Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These folding geometric solids will provide students with a hands-on way to explore geometry concepts that are often difficult to visualize. By folding, building, and examining each shape, students will better understand the connection between two-dimensional nets and three-dimensional figures. The interactive materials will help students strengthen their understanding of symmetry, perimeter, area, surface area, and volume while improving spatial reasoning and problem-solving skills. These tools will make math more engaging, accessible, and memorable for all learners, especially visual and kinesthetic students.

My goal is to create an engaging, student-centered math environment where students can actively explore geometry through hands-on learning experiences.

I want students to develop a deeper understanding of geometric concepts by manipulating and constructing shapes rather than relying solely on textbook instruction. This project will help increase student confidence, participation, and achievement in math while encouraging critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world problem-solving skills.

My students are curious, creative, and eager to learn when given opportunities to explore concepts in meaningful ways. They thrive during interactive, hands-on activities that allow them to move beyond traditional paper-and-pencil learning. Many of my students learn best by seeing and touching materials, and they benefit greatly from experiences that make abstract concepts more concrete. They are hardworking students who deserve engaging resources that inspire confidence, excitement, and a love for learning.
