My Project

My first grade students come to school each day with different learning styles, needs, and emotions. Many of my students benefit from movement breaks, calming tools, sensory supports, and quiet spaces that help them feel safe, focused, and ready to learn. As a beginning teacher, I want to create a sensory-friendly classroom environment where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

With these sensory tools, my students will have access to calming headphones for noise reduction, sensory fidgets for focus, kinetic sand for hands-on regulation, breathing balls for mindfulness, emotion poppers for social-emotional learning, and liquid sensory floor tiles that encourage movement and sensory exploration.

These materials will help students self-regulate during stressful moments, transition more successfully throughout the school day, and build confidence in the classroom.

Many young learners struggle with anxiety, overstimulation, attention challenges, or sensory needs that can impact their ability to focus and participate. By providing sensory supports and calm-down tools, I can help students develop healthy coping strategies while creating a positive and inclusive classroom community.

The storage bins and timers will help organize our sensory stations and teach students independence as they learn to manage breaks and transitions responsibly. These tools will not only support academic growth, but also encourage emotional regulation, problem-solving, collaboration, and self-awareness.

My goal is to ensure every child feels supported, understood, and successful throughout the school day. Your generosity will help create a calm, welcoming environment where students can learn, grow, and feel their very best. Thank you for supporting my classroom and my amazing first graders!
