My Project

In our library, nonfiction books open the door to curiosity, research, and real-world learning—but without a clear system, students often struggle to find what they need. This project will provide Demco Dewey Decimal shelf dividers and label protectors to transform our nonfiction section into an organized, student-friendly space that supports both literacy and research skills.

The Dewey Decimal system is an essential tool that helps students learn how information is categorized and located in libraries.

With clearly labeled shelf dividers, students will be able to visually navigate topics like animals, science, history, and more. These dividers will serve as both organizational tools and teaching aids, reinforcing students’ understanding of how nonfiction texts are grouped and accessed. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, students will gain confidence and independence as they explore topics that interest them.

In addition, label protectors will help preserve the call numbers on our books, ensuring they remain readable and intact throughout the year. With durable, protected labels, students can more easily locate and return books to their proper place—an important part of maintaining an effective library system. This small addition will have a big impact on keeping our nonfiction section functional and accessible for all learners.
