Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My second graders are a vibrant, hardworking group of resilient learners. My classroom is a beautiful "melting pot" of needs and talents, including students with learning disabilities, English Language Learners, and students who are working extra hard to bridge gaps in their reading. Despite these challenges, they come to school with a spark of curiosity and a desire to grow.

The primary goal of this project is to foster independence and equity.

Journals and pencils are vital for my struggling readers and ELL students to practice phonics, sketch out their ideas, and engage in daily writing without the fear of running out of supplies. Book Pouches are "literacy lifelines," allowing students to keep their leveled readers safe and organized as they practice at school and home—a critical step in closing the reading gap. The Laminator: This is a game-changer for my visual learners. I will use it to create durable visual schedules, vocabulary cards for ELLs, and reusable graphic organizers that help students break down complex tasks.

Your support will provide the physical structure my students need to feel confident, capable, and ready to take on the world of second grade!
