Art for Autism!

My students need these 24 stepping stone kits in order to experience making mosaics. They have never done them before now, it would be wonderful to experience something new.

My Students

I am an art teacher and I work with "special students". Many of my students have autism and art is an outlet for them. I feel these mosaic kits would be a great experience for them. It will give them the opportunity to create something unique that their families will treasure for years to come.

A lot of my students are not verbal, they communicate through their art.

I like to expose them to different aspects or art, but unfortunately supplies are expensive and money is limited. They like to create three dimensional artwork and those supplies are scarce, these mosaic kits will be perfect for them.They are great artists! They walk into my classroom with smiles and enthusiasm, ready to begin. My students are visual learners, this mosaic project will be fun and exciting for them. They will be able to have the freedom to create wonderful stepping stones.

My Project

Due to lack of funding my resources are limited. We are not always able to work with different medium as often as we would like. Most of the time we work with the basics such as drawing or painting on canvas or paper, it would be exciting to make a mosaic work if art. The kits we have requested contain everything each student will need to create their own masterpiece. We can create a lasting piece of art that they can take home to their families to put on display. My students are so proud of their work.

My students have disabilities that they are able to overcome with their self-expression in art class.

Just seeing the light in their eyes when they create a piece of art is incredible to behold. Many or them are not verbal, art is a means of communication for them. These materials will give them a new experience in art!
