This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember what it was like to be so full of energy that you just couldn't sit still, no matter what? I have so many students every year that struggle just to stay focused for even a few minutes, let alone an hour or more.

My students are great kids, but many of them have the attention spans of hummingbirds.

They need to be in constant motion, but the confines of my small classroom really do not allow for much movement. Most of them qualify for free or reduced lunches. They attend a small public charter with extremely limited funds. They are very motivated to do well and come from supportive families.

My Project

The seats I am requesting are specially designed for kids with ADD. These ball seats will allow them to bounce and wiggle where they sit. If my students can move a little where they sit then they won't be a inclined to get up and move about the room, distracting the other students.

I have several students every year for whom these seats could be the difference between passing failing.

If you can't focus, you won't learn. And if you can't focus, it's likely that it won't be long before the students sitting around you won't be able to focus either.
