I have 15 wonderful kindergarten students in Nebraska. I have 8 boys and 7 girls. My students are part of low income families and do not have the chance to experience technology at their homes.

"Say, cheese please" is what I would like my students to start saying to their classmates. I am trying to incorporate technology into my students lives. My students do not get a chance to have hands on experiences with computers or digital camera. Throughout the year I make documentation board showing their experiences and growth and one student asked me the other day if he could make a board to show his mom at open house. So,I have been buying the throw away cameras for the students to use but they really like using a camera where they can see the picture right away and they can make the decision whether or not to keep it. After developing the pictures that my students took, they then wrote stories or redrew the pictures and made a book to share with each other. They will sit for 30 minutes just talking about the pictures they have taken and why they have taken them. The digital cameras will motivate and engage my students in ways that other educational tools cannot.

I need four digital cameras that my students could use to take pictures. This would be an experience where they can learn through technology anywhere on school grounds. If they want to take pictures at recess and then go inside and print the pictures off and write a story about what just happens. My students will take the pictures and learn to write while having fun. Also, 9 out of my 15 students have a really hard time with their eye-hand coordination. By using the digital cameras, they will be able practice using their hand-eye coordination while having fun.

You will help motivate my students and engage them in many ways that regular educational tools cannot do. The digital cameras will enhance and increase learning potential.
