My Students

Do you remember being a child when you were the only one without something? Sadly, I still have students in my class that do not have access to computers at home.

I teach 2nd graders in a rural town in North Carolina.

We are a public school with a shrinking budget. My students are sweet, energetic, and always excited about learning. A large number of my students have parents out of work. We have had many places of business close, and this has left many of my students at a disadvantage.

My Project

I would like to have an HP computer for my students to take home. I would create a rotation schedule for students so that everyone without a computer would have the opportunity to use the laptop at home. I would purchase educational games to download for the students to practice skills at home.

Students could discuss things they did at home on their computers.

They could talk about Internet, games, and PowerPoint presentations. I might not be able to let my low socioeconomic students get on the Internet at home, but I can download games and other activities so they can be a part of the conversation the others have every morning.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
