Please help me give my students the powerful gift of expressing ideas clearly and thoughtfully.

My second grade students come to school everyday with a sincere love for learning. The only thing holding them back is our school's lack of available funding for resources. My students are so eager to express themselves, but often become shy or frustrated because they have difficulty finding the right words. While answering standardized test questions, my students often stumble over words with multiple meanings and unfamiliar terms used in place of everyday words.

My students each need a thesaurus/dictionary to aid in the building of their vocabulary skills. By increasing and enhancing my student’s vocabulary, they will not only perform better on standardized assessments, but they will be able to express themselves more successfully and confidently while writing and speaking. No student should be without such a valuable resource, and our school simply cannot afford to purchase them.

Please help me to give these incredible children the life changing gift of "word power".
