The ScienceBlogs 2007 Challenge was a huge success! The ScienceBloggers raised an astounding $72,920 from more than 550 donors during the month of October, reaching over 18,500 students in public school classrooms! We want to make even more of an impact this years as part of the Blogger Challenge 2008.

About ScienceBlogs' Participation
The bloggers and readers at ScienceBlogs are engaged in the internet's largest conversation about science. It's a conversation we think everyone should be interested in.

Public interest in science is high, but public understanding of science is still a work in progress. Helping teachers to build scientific literacy, engagement, and excitement among their students is one way to cultivate a public that can hold its own in the conversation and that wants to be a part of it.

We believe that increasing science literacy is a pre-condition for progress in the 21st century. The classroom is a good place to start. Check out the opening news story, and see the DonorsChoose.org blog post for tips on participation.

Special Announcement: The Seed Media Group has just announced that they are donating $15,000 as a matching gift to help the ScienceBlogs (www.scienceblogs.com), the largest online community dedicated to science, and their readers in their efforts to help promote science literacy through the 2008 DonorsChoose.org Blogger Challenge.
