My school serves students from the south Bronx with multiple and often severe disabilities. My students are kind and respectful. They range in age from 13 to 21. My students are learning important independent living skills as well as having exposure to the general education common core curriculum. My goal as a special educator is to help my students live independently. I would like to use interactive technology to help teach important skills such as punctuality, time management, money management, as well as geography, the sciences, literacy, history and mathematics. The majority of students receive free lunch. We are located in the poorest congressional district in the nation. As I stated earlier, despite my students hardships, they are an amazing, caring and positive group of young men and women.
