My Project

What I love most about my theatre students is their incredible creativity, resilience, and fearlessness. They step into our scene shop ready to transform a blank stage into entirely new worlds. I love watching a student who has never held a tape measure or power tool gain the confidence to measure, cut, and assemble a 10-foot wall flat with precision. My students are natural problem-solvers who take immense pride in looking at a finished set on opening night and knowing every platform, door, and prop was built by their own hands. They deserve a safe, fully equipped environment that matches their passion.

In a high school scene shop, safety is the foundation of our curriculum.

Right now, limited and worn-out safety gear forces students to wait on the sidelines, taking away valuable learning time. Having proper personal protective equipment (PPE) will allow every student to participate fully, safely, and actively every day.

While theatre is often seen purely as an art, our shop operates as a hands-on STEM lab where abstract concepts come alive. Students apply physics when calculating weight distribution for elevated platforms, practice engineering when constructing load-bearing scenery, and utilize geometry when scaling 2D blueprints into 3D builds. Equipping our shop with essential safety gear protects these young builders while they master critical STEM concepts and learn real-world trade skills through creative design.
