My Project

My K–5 students are creative, curious, and full of imagination. They love expressing themselves through art, whether they are experimenting with new techniques, telling stories through drawings, or building confidence in their abilities. Many of my students thrive when given opportunities for hands-on learning and creative exploration, especially those who benefit from extra support, structure, and encouragement.

Sketchbooks are an essential tool in our art classroom.

They give students a safe space to practice, make mistakes, and grow over time. With consistent access to a personal sketchbook, students can develop fine motor skills, improve drawing techniques, and build confidence in their artistic voice. These sketchbooks will be used for daily warm-ups, skill-building exercises, creative prompts, and personal expression.

Unfortunately, not all of my students are able to bring in their own sketchbooks, which creates a barrier to equitable access in the classroom. By providing sketchbooks for every student, this project ensures that all learners—regardless of background—have the tools they need to succeed and feel included. Having their own sketchbook fosters pride, ownership, and a sense of belonging as young artists.

With your support, my students will have the opportunity to create, practice, and grow every day. These sketchbooks will not only support their artistic development but also encourage perseverance, creativity, and confidence that extends beyond the art room.
