My Project

Technology has transformed the way students communicate, but one essential skill is quietly disappearing—cursive handwriting. At my school, we believe students deserve the opportunity to develop strong handwriting skills that improve communication, strengthen cognitive development, and connect them to history while building confidence in their own abilities.

Our students are eager to learn, but many have never received formal instruction in cursive writing.

This project will provide each student with a copy of the Ultimate Writing Success – Guided Cursive Handwriting Workbook for Tweens, Teens, and Young Adults, allowing them to develop beautiful handwriting while practicing inspiring quotes, positive affirmations, speeches, and poems that encourage perseverance, kindness, resilience, and self-confidence.

Unlike traditional handwriting books, this workbook takes students through a carefully designed progression that begins with tracing the cursive alphabet and gradually advances to connecting letters, forming words, writing complete sentences, and ultimately copying meaningful passages. The step-by-step approach helps students build muscle memory, improve fine motor skills, and gain confidence with every page they complete.

At Myrtle Beach STEM Academy, we strive to educate the whole child. While STEM prepares students for the future, cursive handwriting develops patience, discipline, creativity, and thoughtful communication. Introducing cursive encourages them to slow down, think intentionally, and take pride in their work. The process of writing by hand creates meaningful connections between the brain and body that support academic achievement across all subject areas.

Perhaps most importantly, students gain confidence as they watch their handwriting improve page by page. The motivational quotes and inspirational passages throughout the workbook reinforce positive thinking while students practice an essential lifelong skill.
