My Project

Flexible Seating for Happy Readers

My goal is to create a classroom where my fifth and sixth grade students feel comfortable, welcomed, and excited about reading.

Adding flexible seating options will help transform our classroom into a fun and relaxing environment where students can settle in with a good book and truly enjoy their reading time.

Not every student learns or focuses best while sitting at a traditional desk. Flexible seating gives students the opportunity to choose a space where they feel comfortable and can concentrate. Whether they are independently reading, working with a partner, participating in a novel study, or completing a reading activity, these seating options will provide inviting spaces throughout our classroom.

At this age, encouraging students to become lifelong readers is incredibly important. I want my students to see reading as something they get to do, rather than something they have to do. Creating cozy, comfortable reading areas can make reading feel special and give students a place to relax, explore new stories, and build their confidence as readers.
