Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My TK students are little learners with big needs. Snacks are more than just a treat for my students, they are an important part of our daily routine. I incorporate snack time into our schedule to give them an opportunity to recharge and get ready for our lessons. Full bellies help them maintain their energy and stay focused during classroom discussions and activities. When children are hungry, it can be harder for them to concentrate and enjoy learning. Having extra snacks available helps me make sure that students who need a little something to eat can have one and feel ready to learn.

Snack time is also a great opportunity for my students to practice important life skills.

Before eating, they practice washing their hands, and afterward, they learn to clean up after themselves. They are also learning to open their own snacks, throw away their trash and take responsibility for their space. These simple daily routines help them develop independence, good hygiene habits and responsibility.

Along with snacks, we also need Band-Aids and wipes to care for scrapes, sticky hands, and classroom messes. At this age, accidents happen often. Having these supplies readily available helps me care for my students and keep our classroom clean, safe and comfortable.
