Helping Students Become Independent

Help me give my students the essential supplies they need to reach their potential.

Mrs. Hedges Jackson Elementary School
Hillsboro, OR Grades PreK-2

My Project

I am a first grade teacher with inspiring students and they are always looking for ways to be independent as they move to more challenging curriculum. This age is about setting important foundations and teaching them to be good little humans. Each of the supplies on my list will either make things easier for myself or directly impact the students by helping them to be creative and learning this independence. I like to have a well organized classroom so that students can feel a sense of calm in the space and these supplies will go along way in helping. For example, I will use the laminator and pouches and make picture labels of the supplies I have. Students will then see the classroom materials easily. The Teachers Pay Teachers gift card will allow me to purchase intriguing lessons and materials that will supplement existing curriculum. The clear boxes will help students see where math manipulatives are stored and how to put them away properly. This will all increase independence in my room. Students also love to sharpen pencils and be ready to write in their notebooks. My students are engaged for longer periods of time when they are comfortable in the classroom and know what to expect. These supplies will help increase their independence, sense of self and feel more at ease. Your donation goes a long way to help them gain more independence!
