Rolling Into Reading: Bookcases for Our Growing Library

Help me give my students an organized, accessible classroom library by providing a durable, mobile bookcase where they can easily browse, choose, and enjoy the many new books they are excited to read.

My Project

My classroom has recently experienced something really special—we were fortunate enough to receive several DonorsChoose projects that brought in a large collection of new books for our students. These books have already sparked excitement, curiosity, and a deeper love of reading in my third graders. However, with this wonderful growth comes a new challenge: we simply don’t have enough space to organize and display all of these books in a way that students can easily access and enjoy.

Right now, many of our books are stacked in bins or tucked away, making it harder for students to independently find “just right” books or explore new genres.

At this age, access and visibility matter. When books are front and center, students are more likely to pick them up, stay engaged, and build strong reading habits that last a lifetime.

That’s why we are requesting a Childcraft Mobile Adjustable Bookcase. This sturdy, child-friendly bookcase will allow us to neatly organize our growing classroom library while keeping books at students’ eye level. Its mobility means we can easily move it around the room to create flexible reading spaces, support small group instruction, or build cozy reading corners.

This bookcase will do more than just hold books—it will help create an inviting, organized environment where students feel inspired to read every day. It will empower them to make choices, take ownership of their learning, and develop independence as readers.
