My Project

Reading is the foundation of learning. It strengthens language development, builds memory, sparks imagination, and develops critical thinking skills. One of the most effective ways for students to become stronger readers is simply to read more—but for many students with reading disabilities, finding books that feel accessible and enjoyable can be a challenge.

The students I work with often struggle to connect with reading because many "age-appropriate" books are written far above their current reading levels.

When students cannot successfully access the books available to them, frustration replaces curiosity, and reading becomes something to avoid rather than enjoy.

My goal is to change that by creating a classroom library filled with books that students both want to read and can read independently. By providing high-interest, accessible books, I hope to help students experience success, build confidence, and discover the joy of reading.

As a resource English teacher, I believe every student deserves the opportunity to see themselves as a reader. With your support, we can help students of all ability levels develop a love of reading that lasts a lifetime.
