My Project

In the art classroom, having dependable sketchbooks is essential for encouraging creativity and supporting every stage of the artistic process. This project will provide a hole‑punch and spiral‑coil binding machine, along with the paper, covers, and coils needed to assemble high‑quality sketchbooks for my students. With these tools, I can ensure that each learner begins the year with a sturdy place to draw, plan, and experiment.

This project also supports a more sustainable classroom by reducing waste and demonstrating the value of reusing materials in creative ways.

By binding our own sketchbooks, I can incorporate recycled or leftover paper, refill books when students run out of pages, and rebuild worn‑out sketchbooks instead of replacing them entirely.

Creating sketchbooks in‑house allows me to customize them to match the needs of different classes. I can include the right types of paper for drawing, planning, and note‑taking, giving students materials that truly support their work. Having control over the format and durability of these sketchbooks helps me provide a more consistent and adaptable resource for all students.

Having the equipment to bind sketchbooks will also help ensure equity in the art room. Every student—regardless of background or access to materials at home—will receive the same high‑quality, teacher‑prepared sketchbook. This creates a strong foundation for learning and gives every young artist the confidence and resources they need to participate fully.
