Help me give my students wooden bird houses to apply learned knowledge to build homes designed for birds to survive.

My Project

I teach at a Prek-5th grade Title 1 school in a small town in a rural area of North Carolina. Our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Our first graders are a community of diverse learners who are hardworking, curious, and eager to learn!

Our students have stepped into the incredible world of birds—discovering what makes a bird a bird and how unique beaks, feet, and features can mean the difference between survival and struggle.

To bring this learning to life, I am requesting wooden birdhouses so students can design and create their very own bird home. They will decorate wooden birdhouses to match their birds' habitat and needs, making meaningful connections between environment and survival. Each birdhouse will reflect not just creativity, but understanding.

This project blends science, art, and creativity in a way that is developmentally appropriate and engaging. Students will apply their knowledge! In their hands, science becomes real. Learning becomes something they can touch, hold, and feel pride in. Thank you for any support you can give this project.
