Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are resilient, curious, and deserving of dignity. They navigate complex lives—balancing academics, social pressures, and personal challenges. When my students feel safe, supported, and cared for, they can focus on learning instead of worrying about basic needs. That's when real growth happens. Easy bathroom access means my students aren't distracted by physical discomfort or anxiety about asking permission—they can focus on lessons, participate confidently, and manage their health independently. A private, clean restroom protects their dignity and mental health, helping them feel respected while reducing stress and shame. Discreet support from staff builds trust; when my students experience compassion instead of judgment, they're more likely to communicate needs and develop healthy relationships with authority figures.

The resources in The Hygiene Hub work together to remove barriers to learning.

A hygiene supply station ensures no student in my class misses class or feels embarrassed managing unexpected needs. Normalized conversations about bodies and wellness teach my students that their needs are valid and asking for help is strength. When these elements combine, my students develop confidence, resilience, and well-being both in and out of the classroom. My students thrive when they feel seen, safe, and supported.
