Our students have been so excited to have access to the 3D printer and to earn items through positive behaviors and contributions to our school community.\r\n\r\nStudents have had opportunities to recognize and vote for their peers based on positive behaviors, acts of kindness, selflessness, and helpfulness. This process has demonstrated to students that positive engagement, responsible choices, and contributing to the school community can lead to meaningful and positive rewards.\r\n\r\nAlthough we have not yet begun teaching students how to design and create their own models, that is an exciting next step that we plan to introduce in the near future. The 3D printer has continued to capture students' attention and has created a strong desire to learn how to design and produce their own models.\r\n\r\nOur long-term goal is to introduce CAD (Computer-Aided Design) skills beginning in the lower grades and continuing through high school. By doing so, we hope to provide students with practical skills that can be applied to real-world careers and industries, including engineering, manufacturing, machinery, architecture, interior design, and many other fields. CAD is an important tool across a wide range of career paths, and we hope to give students a strong foundation that can support those who may choose to pursue it professionally.\r\n\r\nThe 3D printing program has become a valuable tool for behavior support, social engagement, skill development, creativity, teamwork, and hands-on learning for students throughout our school. Students are engaged, excited, and curious about what they can learn and create next. It has been a wonderful addition to our educational environment, and we look forward to expanding our knowledge of CAD while continuing to build positive peer relationships and meaningful engagement among our students.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you so much for your support, encouragement, and belief in this project. With these donations we have been able to watercolor a line landscape, design turtle shells, create the longest line, and so much more in just a few weeks. We use these supplies on a daily basis for our art projects. My students were so excited to see we had more blue and black water colors. We had new markers that were not dried out, and we could actually finish a project without having to throw any markers away. Our Kindergarten classes got their first taste of painting with their new watercolor supplies. It is such a great way to teach these little's how to paint, hold a brush, and how to clean up after themselves. They were so excited to have supplies to practice with. Some of these completed projects will be on display at the end of the year art show. My students have been very engaged in our classroom 3D printer. They have enjoyed it so much that several students have purchased their own to do at home. This has sparked their creativity and have been able to make several items of personal preference, but also items to solve problems.\r\n\r\nThe amount of filament that we've used has quickly diminished and we are grateful for the several rolls of filament that you purchased to replenish our stock. For these visual and kinesthetic learners, the 3D printer has been a game-changer, allowing them to demonstrate their intelligence through spatial reasoning and mechanical design rather than just written tests. One group of students, who were often quiet and hesitant to participate in class, have completely warmed to this technology. We now have enough air dry clay to support over 500 students this year. With your generosity the 5th graders at West Side are now able to make Tic Tac Toe boards for their final art project. The 2nd and 3rd graders will be able to now create animals out of pinch pots. 1st graders will be able to make monster bowls and kindergarteners will be able to make a beehive out of a coil pot. Finally 4th graders will be able to explore their ideas with tic tac toe boards at the end of the school year.
