Because of your generosity, my fifth grade students in all classes have gotten to experiment with playing the different members of the recorder family. I have used the new recorders to differentiate instruction, both to give advanced students more of a challenge by having them read sheet music in bass clef without additional support, and to create easier parts to support students who struggle with finger dexterity and quick changes between notes (without singling them out.) Students were able to hear the differences in their parts more easily, and as a result they played better in tune and in tone with each other. The addition of the alto recorders to my classroom has also helped support students with sensory differences, as they are a quieter and gentler timbre than the normal soprano recorders, making our learning easier on the ears.\r\nAdditionally, these recorders enabled my school's brand new Recorder Ensemble to perform sophisticated music in three and four parts at our musical in March and at their showcase concert earlier in May, even though my ensemble was entirely fourth graders who were new to recorder this year. A majority of my students who participated this year are eager to return next year, and many of their friends and younger students are hoping to join them as well. Some of my students are so excited about it that they have purchased their own recorders and method books to keep practicing with over the summer! I am so excited to see how this program continues to grow in the coming years.\r\nAbove all, these instruments have given my students a sense of curiosity about music making and respect for the instrument. Even students who previously derided the soprano recorder as being childish lit up as soon as they had the alto or bass in their hands. I have watched these instruments transform the early wind instrument experience of my students. Thank you again for believing in them.","fullyFundedDate":1739928346455,"projectUrl":"project/next-level-recorders-for-next-level-perf/8973618/","projectTitle":"Next-level Recorders for Next-level Performers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Joskow","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9849471_orig.jpg?crop=2320,2320,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1735170849513","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9849471"},{"teacherId":8985865,"projectId":9013229,"letterContent":"We have had such an incredible time learning about Space!
