With access to quality 3D printers, they now can see how to improve their designs and make prints that fit together to solve problems for creativity challenges. Recently a group of my students created a 3D model of a flower, from scratch, to incorporate into a Fine Arts Skit for Destination Imagination State Tournament. As it was a team choice element that highlighted their interests, it gained them enough points to put them into 3rd place at the tournament. \r\nOther students have been using their 3D designs to create art. Having their own copy allows students to follow along closely, reread challenging sections, and actively engage with the text in ways that simply were not possible before.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is interactive and joyful. Students read along as we listen to portions aloud, stop to turn and talk with partners, and use text evidence to support their thinking. You can often see students pointing to the page, tracking words, and eagerly raising their hands to share an insight or question. These book sets have strengthened our whole-group discussions and increased student confidence, especially for readers who need extra support. When everyone has the same book in hand, students feel included and capable.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who were once hesitant readers are now some of the most excited participants. They take pride in having their own book, enjoy revisiting favorite parts, and are more willing to take reading risks. One of my favorite moments was watching my students see all the snacks that we had receives and seeing the snack shelf filled. On the reading side, we utilized the new leveled books and comprehension tools to launch a small-group book club. Students were so excited to read books that matched their level and interests—they even asked if they could take them home!\r\n\r\nThey were thrilled! Some of them couldn't believe the books and games were actually for them to use. One student said, \"This doesn't even feel like work—it's fun!\" The materials brought a sense of excitement and ownership to learning that we hadn't seen before.
